Indra Bagus - winner of the men's singles in StockholmDenmark had a 50 percent success on finals day in Stockholm Sweden with victory in the mixed and women’s doubles, however new Danish sensation Viktor Axelsen failed in his attempt to win his first major International tournament as he was thwarted at the final hurdle by the virtually unknown Indra Bagus from Indonesia.

Swedish International - Axelsen Steals the Show

Viktor Axelsen - the reigning European U17 ChampionshipsThe Swedish International kicked into overdrive in the wonderful Eriksdalshallen in Stockholm and at the end of day one there is one name on everyone’s lip, that name being Victor Axelsen of Denmark.

The 16 year old Dane playing his first major International event, blasted his way through qualification yesterday and continued where her left off today by beating home favourite Henri Hurskainen in a tough 3 sets in round 1. The Danish wonder kid followed his first round success with 2 set win over fellow Dane Sune Gavnholt to book his quarter final spot.

First Circuit win for Carolina Marin – the reigning U17 European Champion

Carolina Marin - won the women's singles in DublinThe Spanish super-talent, Carolina Marin, won her first ever Circuit tournament when she won the Irish International this weekend. Denmark clinched the titles in men’s doubles and mixed doubles, while Henri Hurskainen won a title for Sweden in the men’s singles. Finally England clinched the women’s doubles title when Mariana Agathangelou and Heather Olver came out victorious.

4 titles for Russia in Cardiff

Four very successful Russian players - Nikolaenko, Vislova, Durkin and SorokinaThe annual Yonex Welsh Open took place this weekend at Cardiff’s Welsh Institute of Sport. Part of World Badmintons International Series. Players from 21 countries descended upon the Welsh capital city. Spectators were not disappointed as the standard of play was very high, exhibiting some top class badminton. The Russians has an impressive tournament with representation in 4 of the 5 finals.

Egelstaff wins on home soil in Glasgow

Susan Egelstaff - victorious on home soilSusan Egelstaff's dreams came true this afternoon as she lifted the women's singles title at the Bank of Scotland International Championships in her home city of Glasgow.

The 27-year-old Commonwealth Games bronze medallist defeated two-time winner Ella Diehl of Russia 21-18 21-10 in the battle of the top two seeds.
