Bibik and Golovanova at the White Nights 2010After 4 days with nice victories and exiting loses, the White Nights 2010 have come to an end. Many surprises rewarded the increased number of spectators who found their way to the hall in St-Petersburg.

One of the many surprises was the early out in the quarterfinals of the two strong Russian mixed doubles.

White Nights – fourth consecutive year in Gatchina

Anastasia Russkikh - ready for her home event in GatchinaRussia’s Leningrad region has for more than 45 years been of the biggest badminton regions in the country. Every year 8-10 tournaments are being organized and included in the calendar of the National Badminton Federation of Russia – tournaments both on top level and for players who are “only” playing for fun. The number of people playing badminton is still getting bigger in the region, and this is, among other things, due to results achieved by players coming from the Leningrad region – one of the best in Russia.

Danes heading home with three titles

Anne Skelbæk and Maria Helsbøl made a strong comeback to win the women's doublesNo less than seven finals were on the program on the last day of the Circuit Finals held near the TT-circuit in Assen, the Netherlands. The women’s and singles finals for both senior and junior players and off course the remaining three double events. Players from all over Europe were able to qualify, however all titles were split up between three nations: Russia, Denmark and England.

Four different nationalities in singles finals

Ella Diehl - ready for the final after win against compatriot BibikThe first session of the day had to decide which two players were able to qualify for the men’s and women’s singles finals. After another four matches played the four finalists were Pablo Abian, Rune Ulsing, Ella Diehl and Susan Egelstaff.

The finals shall now decide the winners of this year's prestigious event in Assen.

Three favourites win first matches – only one fails

Scott Evans - despite the strorg effort, he had to bow for the strong ZavadskyAfter the second session of the men’s and women’s singles nothing is yet decided, but we have a far better idea who’ll be able to qualify tomorrow morning. The only certainty is that the following players are out of the tournament: the two home players Lester Oey and Patty Stolzenbach and Russian Anastasia Prokopenko. Scott Evans was first seeded in his group - but lost to Ukraine's Dmytro Zavadsky.
